If you’re a writer, or know a writer of short fiction, you must check this out. It’s called Read the Shorts.
ReadtheShorts.com is dedicated to connecting aspiring writers to avid readers. Tired of the publishing game, with queries and rejections, we make sure your beloved story never ends up in the bottom of a drawer again.
Display your short stories on ReadtheShorts.com and finally receive payment for all your hard work and dedication as a writer.
Post one, two, or as many as you like and get the confirmation you deserve from those who matter most; the readers.
Here’s the model: readers can enjoy the first half of the stories for free. To read the last half, they’re charged $2, and the author gets half of that. This is awesome, because there’s no cost for people to read some of your work (and we all need more exposure, this is just one more venue to accomplish that). However, if they want the big finish they pay you for it.
Apparently someday they’ll have novels up, but right now it’s short stories, up to 15 pages. I don’t write shorts. Seriously, I’ve tried repeatedly, but every idea I have leads to another idea, which leads to another idea, and before long I have 15 pages of notes. 🙂
I will be interested in reading shorts in my favorite genres, so post your shorts, people!
Seems like a good deal all around, and quite a brainstorm! This is when I get all warm and fuzzy about the internet age. 🙂
