Hello there! So happy to be back for my fourth round of ROW80, the writing challenge that knows you have a life.
The past two rounds I’ve shot way too high. Although I’m making a ton of progress, my lofty goals are making me feel more and more behind. So it’s time for a reality check.
I now have two (recent) books with first drafts written. Before I do much more writing, I need to edit, edit, edit. π
My goal for this round:
Edit and revise Queen Witch, my urban fantasy novel. The book needs a lot of work, including writing at least a handful of new scenes, and possibly cutting an entire section…I have some ideas, but won’t know exactly what it needs until I dig into it. I wrote it last fall, and then set it aside while I wrote another paranormal romance.
I’m zeroing in on this one goal to ensure I get it done in a timely fashion — hopefully during round 2. I realize this may make my updates boring and repetitive…but all of you writers out there know that’s part of the gig, so no surprises there. π
I can’t wait to see what everyone else is shooting for this spring. The one thing I do know: You ROWers are sure to keep inspiring me!
Good luck with all your projects, J. R. I can’t wait to read everything you’re writing!
Our fellow ROW80ers are quite inspiring, aren’t they? π
So glad you’re back for another round, J.R.! I really want to read ‘Queen Witch’, too. Get that editing/revising done and send me a copy…quick. ha.
See you on Friday!
Good luck with editing Queen Witch this round, J.R.!
I tagged you in my blog! Come See!

Nice seeing you again!
Edit and revise is such a big deal … it is a necessary evil and it takes such a long time and lots of patience! Good luck with it π We’ll be cheering for you π
Revisions, those can certainly challenge π Wishing you all the best at knocking that out this round.
Superb blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option?
There are so many options out there that I’m completely overwhelmed ..
Any ideas? Many thanks!
Check out my writer’s page jrpearsenelson.com/writers for advice on writing. I also include links there to some of the great minds in the publishing world today — be sure to visit them and just start reading up. When you get overwhelmed, break it down into smaller pieces, and acknowledge you’re making headway. Anyone who wants to be a writer will need to embrace life-long learning. Best of luck to you!
