Not much to report at the moment. This past week I’ve been working away at final edits on my paranormal romance novella, Tribute. Almost there! I also wrote a few thousand words of background and outline for the urban fantasy novel I’m working on. I haven’t started an actual draft yet. This week my goal is to finish outlining, and then I can start a draft.
J.R. Pearse Nelson is a fantasy and romance writer from Oregon, USA. She lives with her husband and two daughters among the plentiful trees and clouds of the beautiful Willamette Valley. J.R. is always searching for the magic in our world. She weaves tales rooted in mythology, bringing legend to life in modern-day and fantasy settings. I hope everything’s coming along smoothly and that you finish the outline so you can start work on the draft. (:
Sounds like you got more done that you realize!
I love the background/ worldbuilding part of writing. To me it’s the most fun and the most important. I have been able to go back and pull large chunks of what I thought was freewriting or planning when I was stuck in the drafting phase and actually use it in the book. Plus I let myself do silly things like draw maps and pictures of people’s rooms or pets with crayons. It’s a fun stage.
It sounds like you’re moving right along. Good luck!
I’m at the stage when I’m itching to start a new one – lucky you to be so close – and well done
all the best for this week
Thanks for all of the supportive comments!
Vicki, that’s exactly what I needed to hear. The story I’m working on has come together in stages over about five years. It’s one I’ve always pondered between other projects. Lately it has really started to come together and I’m making really exciting connections… it is thrilling!!
Congrats on being so close to done with your novel. That’s great!
Sounds like Tribute is almost ready! Congrats on the progress!
Good luck finishing your edits. I’m in the thick of that process at the moment myself. Nice looking blog you have here, too. 🙂
