Sunday Update

This was one of those weeks where life throws curveballs. Not anything life-changing, but roadblocks in the way of getting to MY stuff, like writing. I set a goal to write 500 words a day, but I still managed to write just two days this week. However, when I did write I accomplished a lot more than 500 words. 1,000 words on Tuesday, and 1,600 today. So that’s 2,600 words — 900 short of my cumulative 3,500 word goal for the week. I’m okay with that, given how the week went. I still like Kait Nolan’s “test mile” challenge, and when I do sit down and write 500 words is pretty easy for me. If I wrote every day — instead of the three or four days I usually manage — I’d accomplish so much more! So that’s a great challenge for me.

I did worse on my exercise goal. I hit the bike one time this week, instead of the three I’m shooting for. That’s one I’ll try to get into a rhythm with over these next couple of weeks.

How about the rest of you? Were you able to start the new year off with stellar word counts and awesome willpower? Good luck with the coming week!

  1. I can relate to the “curveball” situation and congratulations on nevertheless getting in quite a few words. Seems like you “rolled with it” as Steve Winwood said.

I’m off to a good start on my goals – but next week will be much busier, so I’ve got my fingers crossed.

  2. Sitting down to write is always the hardest part, isn’t it? 🙂 But 2,600 words is definitely a great start!

I’ve just joined this ROW80 challenge today, but I’ll let you know how it goes! Best of luck to you. 🙂

  3. 2,600 words is a great start, especially when life is doing its best to get in your way. I’ve noticed many ROW’ers adding exercise components to their goals. What a great idea. Think I’ll add some walking to my goals. Good luck this week!

  4. I think you’re doing just fine on your word count goals. Sometimes things don’t always work out like we plan, and we just have to do what we can.

Exercise is the hardest goal to meet, I think. I did 2 out of the 3 days I planned this week. I will do better this week!

  5. 2,600 sounds pretty good to me! I didn’t quite have the word count I planned either, but I hope to really get in gear this week. I’m just glad it wasn’t another 0 week!

  6. I’d like to have 2,600 words under my belt for last week!

I don’t know about you, but when the boys went back to school, I was finally able to sort this house into order once again! The quiet helps me to edit and write so much. I guess working without interruption doesn’t hurt either!

  7. Yep, that’s life. It interferes sometimes with our grand, glorious goals! Still, your word count is nothing to sneeze at. Pretty good stuff! I love the 500 words no matter what plan.

Best wishes for a great coming week!
